Showing Up
Share
A short one today fam, just something that has been on my mind; showing up for people.
Here's the thing: you can't control how they respond. You can't control whether they say thank you, whether they notice, whether it changes anything for them at all. What you can control is whether you show up in the first place. Whether you choose to help. Whether you choose to write the card, make the call, sit in the discomfort of being inconvenienced for someone you love.
That's really the only part that's yours to decide.
It's a small thing to write "thinking of you" on a card. It takes five minutes. But five minutes of inconvenience, offered freely, is a kind of love language that doesn't require anything back. You're not writing it to get a reaction. You're writing it because you decided to show up for someone.
Not every card you write (if you decide to write one) has to be profound. It just has to be honest, and it just has to be sent. The rest; how they receive it, what they do with it, whether it makes their day or just sits on the counter for a week...isn't up to you.
Your job is just to show up.
(thanks for constantly showing up for me, OrgaNick Fam. I love interacting with all of you)
