Imperfectly Formed

A peek into what the Formed Collection is actually becoming & why it's a good thing.

When I started sketching out The Formed Collection, I knew exactly what I wanted it to be. Bold, geometric & that unapologetic 80s energy with primary colors, hard angles & shapes that demanded attention. I was excited. It felt like the right direction! 

Then somewhere in the process, I sat back and looked at what I had. Lo and behold, nothing felt right about it. Nothing was broken or wrong, necessarily. It was just a little too...tight. Controlled in a way that didn't match what I wanted to say with this collection. The geometry was perfect; too perfect. 

So the collection is shifting.

The thing I keep coming back to is the world God created, right in front of our eyes. Nothing is a 'straight line'. The grain of wood, the curve of a river, the way a leaf doesn't quite match the one beside it, (this could go on forever, but I think you get it). There's intention in all of it, of course, but it isn't rigid. There's beauty in things that are formed without being forced. This idea started pulling at me in a way I couldn't ignore.

The bold geometry is giving way to something more, uhm, 'OrgaNick' 😉. Perhaps lines that feel natural and textured. It all just feels more honest, honestly.

The color palette will be following suit as well, changing from those bold colors to hues more natural and appeasing to the eye; clay, tree bark, morning light, etc.

I'm sharing this story cause I wanted to give you insight into my creative process; because that's exactly what this space is for! A real look into what's happening in the studio. The messy middle. The pivot. The moment a collection stops being what was planned and starts being what it needs to be.

Sooo, if you've noticed it's been quiet around here lately, that makes sense. BUT...quiet doesn't mean nothing is happening, it just means I haven't been the best at bringing you along for it. You shouldn't have to wonder what's going on behind the scenes!!!

So consider this your open invitation to pull up a chair, or hit my DM's with a
